More About Karen

Karen Gross is a Halifax-based producer. She spends most of her time with 2b theatre company. She is also the artistic co-director of Keep Good (Theatre) Company (Let’s Try This Standing, The Children) and the Accidental Mechanics Group (Let’s Not Beat Each Other To Death, The Unfamiliar Everything). Karen has previously worked with Zuppa Theatre Co., Live Art Dance, Strategic Arts Management, and the Magnetic North Theatre Festival. She is the co-founder of the StART Festival, an interdisciplinary festival of art by emerging artists at the Bus Stop Theatre.

Karen has experience writing grant applications at the municipal, provincial, and federal level. She has assembled proposals for small and mid-sized organizations as well as individual artists, with experience writing operating grants, project grants, travel grants, touring grants, professional development grants, and more. She has taught grant writing and budgeting for emerging artists in workshops with the StART Festival and has also served as a peer juror. She enjoys collaborating with artists to help them articulate the impact of their work and hopes to make grant writing a little less scary and mysterious.
