HomeFirst Theatre

HomeFirst Theatre was founded by Artistic Director Mary Vingoe and playwright Colleen Wagner in 2010 to produce theatre of social and/or political importance with an emphasis on plays from Atlantic Canada.

Since its founding, HomeFirst has produced four world-premiere productions of plays by Atlantic Canadian playwrights: Colleen Wagner’s Home (2010), Mary Vingoe’s Refuge (2013), Wendy Lill’s Messenger (2015) and Mary Vingoe’s Some Blow Flutes (2018). It also gave the Atlantic Canadian premiere of Catherine Banks’ Governor General Award winning play It Is Solved by Walking (2014).

The company has amassed 15 Theatre Nova Scotia Robert Merritt Award nominations for its productions.
