Mother of Girl is a post-everything musical tour de force that puts bel canto melody into experimental sound landscapes. Local musicians Ryan Veltmeyer, Ann Denny and John Snow bring a wealth of experience from many Halifax and Toronto bands, including I See Rowboats, Paper Beat Scissors & Airfields. They trade around on voice, trombone, keyboard, drums and found instruments as they swerve in and out of catchy pop hooks, sweet folk ballads and parallel musical universes. In their first year of existence, festival gigs so far include Open Waters Festival, Out Like A Lion (JazzEast), White Rabbit: open air art project and Nocturne appearance at the Guelph Jazz Festival. Upcoming plans include a show at the Creative NS Awards Ceremony in October at the Museum of Natural History in Halifax.
