The Elizabeth Bishop Festival, through the collaboration of the Elizabeth Bishop Society of Nova Scotia and many arts groups and artists in the province, celebrated the life and work of Elizabeth Bishop. Though she did not live permanently in Nova Scotia after the 1910s, she remained deeply connected to the province until her death in 1979. Some of her most celebrated and beloved poems and stories are about the people, places and memories of living in Nova Scotia. Through the lens of Elizabeth Bishop’s art, Nova Scotians see themselves more clearly and the world sees Nova Scotia.
