Pamela Halstead is a director, dramaturg, actor, teacher and arts administrator. Early on in Pamela’s career she was often asked to take a leadership role or handle projects administratively and financially. She created, with other artists, a number of small companies to produce work in Halifax, Toronto, and Calgary. Her arts administration experience includes both for-profits and not-for-profits.
Pamela was the Artistic Producer for Ship’s Company Theatre in Parrsboro for six seasons, including being present for the building of the new facility and completion of the capital campaign, projects overseen by SAM Co-Founder and Director of Internal Operations, Bruce Klinger. Pamela was then recruited to become Artistic Director of Lunchbox Theatre in Calgary, which had just completed its own capital project and was facing artistic and financial challenges in the aftermath of the new facility opening. After four years at the helm of Lunchbox, and a successful journey to restore artistic vision and stability to that organization, the call of the ocean was too great and she returned to her roots in Nova Scotia.
Pamela is the Artistic Producer of DMV Theatre in Halifax and the Artistic Advisor to Valley Summer Theatre in Wolfville. She coordinates the PERFORM! Program for Theatre Nova Scotia, Dance Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Choral Federation. She has served as the chair of Theatre Nova Scotia, a board director for Urban Curvz Theatre in Calgary and on numerous other board, juries and committees across Canada.
